Allen Arms Tactical - Silencers

Silencers, also called "suppressors", are devices that attach to the actual firearm and are designed to reduce the muzzle blast and noise. They may also be built into a firearm or barrel. They may be designed to be easily detached, or to be more permanently secured. The suppressor itself is the Class III licensed item, not the firearm it is attached to (unless it is permanently attached). Silencers can be moved from one firearm to another, caliber permitting.

We frankly recommend the products of Advanced Armament Corporation, as we have found them to provide the highest performing and most durable products available, with the best customer service and pricing available. AAC is now a subsidiary of Remington Arms, which gives them access to unique levels of resources and development. This is the only brand of suppressor we stock. We can, of course, still obtain any product from other manufacturers at competitive pricing.

The answers to several questions frequently encountered include:

  • Effect on accuracy: Suppressors generally improve accuracy by reducing barrel harmonic movement.
  • Zero change: Minor shft in zero is often seen when a suppressor is attached, again due to barrel harmonics effects, but are totally repeatable each time the suppressor is attached.
  • Recoil: Recoil is reduced, not only from the minor additional weight added, but to the ram effect of the expanding gasses hitting and pushing the silencer baffles forward. This muzzle brake effect allows greater control and faster follow up shots.
  • Muzzle flash: is totally eliminated.
  • Sound reduction: While exaggerated in movies, it is dramatic, the remaining noise being produced mainly by the supersonic nature of the projectile, and the action of the firearm cycling. They are totally safe to use without hearing protection, and in the case of rim fire .22 bolt actions, sound elimination is virtually total.
  • Tactical applications: In addition to allowing practice without hearing protection, the great sound reduction means that during engagements, especially in confined spaces, hearing is protected, normal voice communication is possible, opponent's voices can be heard, and distinguishing between incoming fire and outgoing friendly fire is simple. In addition, at longer ranges, the location of your forces are harder to detect, as the nature of the projectile sound is area in nature, not point specific.

One loves to possess arms, though they hope never to have occasion for them.
