Allen Arms Sitting Duck Match

See video of our Sitting Duck Competition in the Multimedia section (on screen 2)!

The Sitting Duck match consists of two shooters simultaneously attempting to knock red polymer ducks off a 2X4 rail with .22 handguns or .22 rifles. With handguns, the distance is 30 feet (10 yards). With rifles, the distance is 50 feet 16.7 yards). The first to knock all of the ducks completely off the table wins.

The targets are about forty inches off the ground, and are roughly 8 inches wide and high. Five ducks are evenly spaced across a five foot width in front of the shooter. The object is to knock more ducks off than your opponent does, in a shorter time span.

Standard safety rules will be enforced, with no exceptions:
-NO FIREARMS HANDLED UNTIL YOU ARE CALLED TO SHOOT
-KEEP YOUR MUZZLE POINTED DOWN RANGE AT ALL TIMES
-KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER EXCEPT WHEN ENGAGING A TARGET
THE MATCH DIRECTOR WILL ISSUE ALL COMMANDS TO LOAD, FIRE, AND CEASE FIRE.

Competition is double elimination, so each shooter shoots until he/she has two losses, and only one shooter remains without two losses. The winner of each classification is eligible to participate in a second series of competition with the other class winners for overall champion. “Buy-Ins” are permitted, allowing a shooter with two losses to shoot again, this time on a single elimination basis, if done before the end of the third relay. See “Fees”, below.

Equipment:

Any .22LR, rifle or handgun, of any action or sighting system is allowed, as well as any method of reloading, and back-up guns. There is no limit on type or amount of ammunition, except that regular range rules apply. All equipment must be carried on the person. If back-up guns are used, a holster carrying the back-up and one to receive the primary weapon must be used. Needless to say, eye and ear protection are mandatory.

Prizes:

Medals for class winners and runner-ups, $20 gift certificate to overall winner.

Fees:

The entry fee is $10, which allows the shooter to shoot as described above. “Buy-Ins” are $5.00, limit 2. Shooters may register for a second class for $10. There are no other fees except cost of ammo purchased at the range.
