Low Light Match Description and Rules:
This match consists of one extended realistic scenario in which the contestant enters a darkened room with erratic lighting, and responds to a series of unknown threats as he moves through the course. It entails barricades, use of cover, movement, moving targets, shooting while moving, strong-hand and weak-hand only shooting, unknown targets, reactionary plates, and clothed IDPA type targets. At times other activities may be required while engaging threats (don't ask what!). All shots will, of course, be directed forward into the backstop. Reloading will be required. Strict safety rules will be enforced, and all shooters must attend a safety briefing before shooting.
Shooters will be accompanied by a Safety Officer carrying a flashlight pointed down who will provide “ambiance” and assure safe and fair conduct.
Two safety rules will be enforced with no exceptions:
-KEEP YOUR MUZZLE POINTED DOWN RANGE AT ALL TIMES
-KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER EXCEPT WHEN ENGAGING A TARGET.
Scoring:
IDPA oriented, with points down divided by time elapsed, so that accuracy and speed are factors. Failure to engage and neutralize a target will be penalized. Shooting a no-shoot target incurs a penalty. Only the first run through the course will count for score. An equipment failure that is not corrected on the spot is a DNF. All scores will be reported for all runs, but only the first run counts. You may enter either class, but not both.
Time Allowing:
We will run the stage more than once, with only the initial run counting in the competition. For the second run, the range lights may be turned on or left off as the competitors decide.
Prizes:
Medals for class winners and runner-ups, $20 gift certificate to overall winner.
Fees:
The entry fee is $10, which allows the shooter to shoot as described above. There are no other fees except cost of ammo purchased at the range.
