See video of our Ladies Competition in the Multimedia section!
On the first Wednesday of each month, a special event is held for female customers only. We call it the Ladies Only Match. One bay of the range area is devoted to this event, which is run by our lady employees, and consists of brief versions of our Sitting Duck and Bulls-eye competitions.
The bulls-eye portion consists of shooters firing handguns at paper targets at specified distances during a time limit. Targets will be hung on regular target backers, and run out to 5 yards. On command, competitors will load their handguns. On the next order they will commence firing at the targets. They will have 3 minutes to fire ten rounds. After all shooters have fired the 10 rounds, or time expires, the targets are then run in and changed out. Fresh targets will then be hung and moved out to 10 yards. Shooting will repeat. These targets will be exchanged for fresh ones, which will be run out to 15 yards, and the shooting repeated. Score.
In the Sitting Duck portion, shooters simultaneously attempting to knock red polymer ducks off a 2X4 rail with .22 handguns or .22 rifles. With handguns, the distance is 30 feet (10 yards). With rifles, the distance is 50 feet 16.7 yards). The first to knock all of the ducks completely off the table wins.
The targets are about forty inches off the ground, and are roughly 8 inches wide and high. Five ducks are evenly spaced across a five foot width in front of the shooter. The object is to knock more ducks off than your opponent does, in a shorter time span.
Competition is double elimination, so each shooter shoots until she has two losses, and only one shooter remains without two losses. The winner of each classification is eligible to participate in a second series of competition with the other class winners for overall champion.
Standard safety rules will be enforced, with no exceptions:
-NO FIREARMS HANDLED UNTIL YOU ARE CALLED TO SHOOT
-KEEP YOUR MUZZLE POINTED DOWN RANGE AT ALL TIMES
-KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER EXCEPT WHEN ENGAGING A TARGET
THE MATCH DIRECTOR WILL ISSUE ALL COMMANDS TO LOAD, FIRE, AND CEASE FIRE.
