INTRODUCTION TO THREE GUN COMPETITION
- Purpose of Course- Designed by Master Rated IDPA shooter Mike Sexton, this course will introduce the shooter to the basics of what is perhaps the most exciting and challenging shooting sport in existance. The skills and techniques used are much the same as covered in the Tactical Handgun, Rifle, and Shotgun courses, with the addition of learning to use them in transition and conjunction. The graduate will be ready to enter competition in this demanding venue, and able to engage targets from point blank to extreme range with appropriate selection of firearm.The course will ground the student in in the equipment, courses of fire, and techniques involved in these sports. Among the subjects covered will be shooting while moving, shooting moving targets, combining speed and accuracy, reloading techniques, use of cover and concealment, and assessing situations to determine the best response and strategies. Needless to say, these lessons will enhance the graduate's ability to cope with real-life situations.
- Age Requirements- 18, with adult guardian
- Prerequisites- Working knowledge of the firearms involved.Time- 6 hours.
- Equipment Needed- Extensive: handgun (revolver or semi-auto, 9MM/.38Special minimum power level), minimum 2 spare magazines/reloaders with carrying pouches, safe hip holster, 200 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection; A magazine fed carbine, limited to 5.56/7.62X39 or pistol calibers, minimum of 200 rounds of ammunition, minimum of two spare magazines (30 round recommended) , means or carrying those on your person. Any sighting equipment is OK except lasers. Ammo may not be steel core, armor piercing, tracer or incendiary. No slings, please. Standard eye and ear protection, OBI; Magazine fed shotgun, any sighting equipment except lasers, 100 rounds of #71/2 or smaller shot, some method of retaining extra shells on your person and reloading, eye and ear proection, OBI, and drivers license. Any equipment needed may be obtained from the range on a rental basis.
- Activities Involved- Short class sessions followed by extensive intensive range sessions, involving both group and individual exercises.

- Other Information- Graduates will be awarded 2 free range sessions.
