Introduction to Tactical Handgul
- Purpose of Course: Purpose of Course: Developed by Master Rated IDPA shooter Mike Sexton, this course is designed to take the experienced shooter to the next level. It will introduce interested shooters to the basics of tactical handgun competition as needed in action shooting matches, such as IDPA, IPSC, and other venues, and prepare them to enter and compete in those venues, as well as instill skills and techniques that can be of great value in real-world situations. The course will ground the student in in the equipment, courses of fire, and techniques involved in these sports. Among the subjects covered will be shooting while moving, shooting moving targets, combining speed and accuracy, reloading techniques, use of cover and concealment, and assessing situations to determine the best response and strategies that will not only improve their performance in competition, but their ability to survive a real-life confrontation.
- Age Requirements: Minimum of 12, with approved previous experience and adult guardian present for those under 21.
- Prerequisites- Any of the following:NRA First Steps Pistol, SCCWP, Introduction To Handguns, military handgun training, law enforcement training, previous action shooting competition.
- Time- 4 hours.
- Equipment Needed- handgun (revolver or semi-auto, 9MM/.38Special minimum power level), minimum 2 spare magazines/reloaders with carrying pouches, safe hip holster, 400 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection, drivers license. All except the license may be rented at the range if needed.
- Activities Involved- Classroom sessions alternating with shooting sessions, which will include both group shooting sessions and individual sessions.

- Other Information- Graduates will receive 2 free range sessions ($20 value)
